Price Match Deals: Toys R Us-Target Saves $$ on Holiday Toys

If you’re willing to spend a little more time poring over the holiday ads, you can save yourself a bucket of money on gifts this season. How? By taking advantage of the price matching policies at Target and Walmart, and by keeping your eyes open for store coupons. Check out this post from Tracie of Kansas City Penny Pinchin’ Mama for more on how to price match at these stores.

Essentially, both Target and Walmart will match the price advertised in a print circular if you bring it in and show it to them. They will not, however, match Internet prices, buy-one-get-one-free deals, bundle offers, etc. Tracie outlines what they will not match.

With price matching in mind, there are a few great deals that will be tough to beat (better than the deals on many of the same items that I posted this morning!). All of the prices below are from the Toys R Us Toy Catalog (“Biggest Big Book Ever”) that came in Sunday’s newspaper (11/1).

You’ll likely be able to find these ads in-store at Toys R Us as well. Bring this catalog with you to Target and bookmark the pages. Then price match to your heart's content!

Clue: Secrets & Spies: $19.99 (pg. 29)
Use $5/1 Target coupon
Use $5/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $9.99

Fisher-Price TRIO King’s Castle: $59.99 (pg. 26)
Use $10/1 Target coupon
Use $5/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $44.99

FurReal Friends Lulu My Cuddlin’ Kitty: $39.99 (pg. 41)
Use $5/1 Target coupon
Final Price = $34.99

LeapFrog Tag Reading System: $39.99 (pg. 15)
Use $10/1 Target coupon
Use $10/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $19.99

Pictureka Flipper!: $19.99 (pg. 28)
Use $5/1 Target coupon
Use $5/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $9.99

Have you seen any more great price match deals on toys? Let me know!

Walgreens: Almay One Coat Mascara Moneymaker

** Welcome WalletPop visitors! Get Coupon Cravings updates daily by signing up for my RSS feed or by subscribing to get email updates. **

Stop by Walgreens by Saturday (11/7) to pick up two FREE tubes of Almay One Coat Mascara, which is ringing up as buy one, get one free this week. Here’s what you do:

Pick up 2 tubes of Almay One Coat Mascara for $6.99 (BOGO)
Use 2 $4/1 Walgreens coupons (November coupon booklet)
Final Price = FREE plus $1.01 overage

I did this deal yesterday afternoon, and the key is to have extra items in your basket to account for the $1.01 overage. Otherwise, the Walgreens coupon will beep. If you spend at least $8, the coupon will subtract $8 ($4 for each mascara) with no problem.

If you have a teenage girl to buy for this holiday season, this mascara could make a great stocking stuffer, especially since you’ll be able to get it for free!

Thanks, My Frugal Adventures!

Target: Online Toy Coupons (Pictureka, LeapFrog Deals!)

I posted last week about the new Toys Coupon Book at Target. Well, I’ve just learned that all of these coupons can now be found online, along with the entire Holiday Toy Catalog. Click here to access the coupons (15 pages!).

Here are a few hot coupon matches of note, including a nice deal on the LeapFrog Tag Learning System.

Clue: Secrets & Spies: $23.99
Use $5/1 Target coupon
Use $5/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $13.99

LeapFrog Tag Learning System: $49.99
Use $10/1 Target coupon
Use $10/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $29.99

Pictureka! Flipper: $23.99
Use $5/1 Target coupon
Use $5/1 printable coupon
Final Price = $13.99

You can also pair the $10/1 Target coupon with this $5/1 printable coupon from Fisher-Price to buy the Fisher-Price TRIO King’s Castle for $59.99 at Target. But to be honest, it may be simpler to just pick this up at Amazon since it’s already $59.99 and it qualifies for free shipping.

Quick note that it's clear that Target and Target.com need to sync up a bit better. In the Holiday Toy Catalog, Clue: Secrets & Spies and Pictureka! Flipper are $24.99, but they list as $23.99 on the web site.

Meanwhile, Target.com appears to apply the coupon for the LeapFrog Tag Learning System since the price is listed online as $39.99 (and you cannot apply the coupon code). In the Holiday Toy Catalog, it's listed as $39.99 with "with coupon" in small print (page 31). Anyway, just something to keep in mind when shopping.

Thanks, Give Me Neither!

Walmart: Price Roll-Backs on 100 More Toys

Have you heard the news? Walmart has cut prices on toys AGAIN. First, they announced on 9/20 that they’d have 100 popular toys for just $10 (up from 10 toys for $10 last year), including the Play-Doh Burger Builder Set, Littlest Pet Shop Online Pets and LEGO Bionicles. You can find the complete list of $10 toys here.

Then today, they rolled back prices on 100 more toys, including the Bakugan Starter Pack ($8) and Hungry Hungry Hippos ($15). The Playskool Busy Ball Popper and Playskool Step Start Walk ‘N Ride have also been reduced to $17. Use these $5/1 printable coupons to get each for just $12.

In order to stay competitive, Amazon has price-matched on all of the toys above, though clearly you won’t be able to use the Playskool printable coupons if you shop through Amazon. With Amazon, you’ll be able to get free shipping on most items when you spend $25 or more.

On Walmart.com, many items ship for $.97 and many more can be shipped free to your local store (site-to-store shipping) This is a great option when you want to avoid the crowds and just run in to grab your purchases at Customer Service.
