I’m clearly already going against what I said about there being too many giveaways and not enough content out there in the blogosphere, but I feel okay about this one since it’s Earth Day and all that’s included in this prize package is designed to save the planet!
As one of Walmart’s Eleven Moms, I was given the opportunity to try out so some great green products on Walmart shelves and I’m giving you the chance to win them too! So, I’ll be awarding one reader an Earth Day Prize Pack courtesy of Walmart that includes the following:
-Bissell Little Green Machine
-Brita Water Pitcher
-Clorox Greenworks Cleaning Products
-Tide Coldwater
-White Cloud Green Earth Paper Products
I really loved testing out these products, though I think my favorite is the Bissell Little Green Machine. It’s a mini steam cleaner that’s perfect for cleaning spots on carpet. I have three kids and a dog and despite my best efforts, there’s always a spot somewhere. The Bissell Little Green Machine is lightweight, portable and best of all, it’s PVC-free and made from recycled plastic!
On a more personal note, I had a chance to hear from Walmart executives on their green initiatives in October at their headquarters, and I was completely blown away. Did you know they approached Clorox to create this line of eco-friendly cleaning products?
Or, did you know that all the small bottles of laundry detergent you see today are thanks to Walmart and their commitment to save water, reduce plastic and get more trucks off the road (bigger bottles = more trucks and more gas used to transport them)? It’s really pretty amazing.
Okay, so do you want to win? Just leave me a comment (no email entries, please) by 2 p.m. ET on Friday with how you marked Earth Day. You can also check out some great YouTube videos here with some amazing tips to help you Go Green. Good luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 429 Newer› Newest»We're planting flowers and trees for Earth Day!
I am a teacher so our class is having a "no paper day". We are writing on white boards, reading, and playing math games.
Recycling our garbage
We are collecting all the reusable shopping bags we can so we don't have to use any more plastic ones and changing all our light bulbs out for energy efficient bulbs.
we're using cloth napkins and no paper towels or napkins
I'm trying to get as many totes as I can, to eliminate plastic bags. I especially hate those little ones from the store, and when I used paper bags, my husband would rip those...canvas totes are the way to go. Thanks. Erin.
frannyangel@comcast.net
we are getting rid of paper towels, switching to reuseable grocery bags, and swapping out the light bulbs. ami hatcher
I'm putting reusable totes in our cars so we don't forget to use them for groceries and other shopping.
Chrissy at knittodayAThotmailDOTcom
We went on a nature walk and made pine cone bird feeders. We use reusable water bottles (fill with tap water) and almost always use canvas totes.

wheesj31@hotmail.com
We are buying a new house so I am brainstorming and researching all the most sustainable ways to get the place in tip-top shape. This week I'm buying no VOC piant in great colors for the kids rooms.
Well at first I went to the drs and found out my baby is coming any day!! yeah! Then I have been getting all the free reusable bags. I have also been trying to cut down on gas and go get all my things done at once hopefully that helps a little lol.
We are using cloth napkins/towles instead of paper, reusable bags for shopping, reusing plastic shopping bags and newspapers bags for garbage and recycling, using cold water for washing, and hang drying all clothing....
I have been collecting all of the reusable totes to keep from using the plastic ones. Also I just purchased my first green cleaning poduct.
I'm hanging my laundry outside to dry today (and any other sunny day) instead of running the dryer.
Cleaning up all the dead leaves, branches, etc to make way for new shoots. This will give way to colorful blossoms and baby shrubs and trees.
adding to our compost pile and recycling the garbage.

I am a trash picker-upper! I hate seeing trash in our community, so when I go on my walks, I take trash bags and clean up. Exercise and a clean environment - it's a double bonus!
Recycling and I've been making sure to use my reuseable grocery bags. I've got my mom using them now too.

I bought coffee mugs for my office mates at the $1 dollar store to use in lieu of styrofoam!
I usually keep my reusable shopping bags in the trunk for my Wednesday shopping trips to Walmart, but now since I'm a couponer, I will keep them up front and use them when I shop at Walgreens and CVS. My mom who I take shopping with me Wednesdays had a triple bipass yesterday, so I will visit her after work, before I shop today. I plan to be her personal shopper for the next few weeks (she's the one who got me to use those bags in the first place). Always listen to your Mom.
Getting more reusable shopping totes (thanks to Walgreens) and taking off the recycling.

We are planting a new tree in our yard and we are trying to not drive at all this week....so far so good, except my hubby going to work!!
My office does have a recycling program, but so many still throw items away!
This Earth Day I removed our coffee/tea beverage cups and snuck them under our cabinet and placed and Earth Day message in the break room. I replaced the toss away cups with Dollar Store purchased mugs, and encouraged folks to keep them at their desks or put them in the sink where I would volunteer to wash them daily.
In addition, I've been collecting free or nearly free water bottles from my trips to Wal-Mart, Wags, etc. and have even collected a few from online freebies. I put these bottles on my Managers' desks and encouraged them to send an email to all the employees in our group to try this new system out and see what we can save!
It's shocking to see what gets thrown away and not recycled - but I'm encouraged by this idea and might take it to other floors in our office!

I am waiting to water my flowers outside until the sun goes down. It's hot and sunny here and the water would just be wasted if I watered in the daytime.
Recycling paper and plastic has been a big part of my life lately. I have barely any trash left after all the other things have been recycled.
My family and I have been recycling our cans and bottles. We also have been reusing tote bags when we go shopping. We have been riding our bikes instead of using the car so we don't created more pollution in the air. We are green all the way!

We planted trees and started our garden!
What a great giveaway for Earth Day!! We already recycle plastic & paper, and take our own filtered water bottles. We have a new tree to plant that's native to our area. Also, as PTA president of our schools we have our book exchange today. We give out new books to each student twice a year & we're having everyone bring in their gently used books to give out in honor of Earth day. This is a fun way to get students interested in recycling while encouraging them to read:)
thanks!

I am going Green by using the three R's...Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. In addition, I am trying to collect Recycled Totes for shopping, and also by hanging my clothes to dry, conserving water by turning off when brushing teeth, using my dishwasher on the shorter cycle, and taking quick luke warm showers. Opening my windows on warm days to cool the house instead of using the A/C. Also cutting back on the use of paper towels, napkins & such. And buying more organic groceries & makeup, traveling less, and of course by trying to spread the word. These are the eco-friendly things I am doing just to start. My goal is not to be a die-hard Enviromentalist, but simply to be Eco-Friendly.
PS Love your site...you do w fantasic job, and I appreciate all you do!
Recycling our garbage! Thanks for the giveaway.

We decided to give up paper towels all together! We will just use rags and regular towels instead and just wash and reuse them. Also, an ongoing thing I do is reuse the paper in the printer when I print coupons online. Most of the coupons only print one per page and either nothing or just an advertisement at the end of the page so I cut out the coupon and use the rest of the paper to print more coupons every time!
My co-workers hugged trees.
Me and my little boy got together with a bunch of other moms and we all planted plants and flowers for ourselves and our neighbors. Then my husband and I planted a tree in honor of our son...and in honor of Earth day!

I've been touring garden centers all day for a consumer panel. When I visit each one, I note all the great new products that are Earth-friendly (e.g. pots that you just stick in the ground with the plant and then will disintegrate - so no landfill waste!). I will go back with my earnings from the panel to buy some for my spring/summer planting!
We are starting a Green Ministry at our church!
