Welcome to the second installment of “Win it Wednesday!” Before I introduce this week’s prize I’d like to congratulate the winner of last week’s prize, the Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker. It went to Amy Stahl of the Stahl Family Blog. Congratulations!
This week’s prize is a $50 Walmart gift card! I’m going to take a cue from my ElevenMoms gal pals over at Keeping the Kingdom First and From Dates to Diapers and will ask you to take a look at Walmart’s 2008 Holiday Entertaining Guide and leave a comment with how you’d spend the $50 gift card if you won by Monday, November 24 at 8 p.m. ET (this giveaway ends one day earlier than normal).
Want two more chances to win a $50 Walmart gift card? Just click on the two ElevenMoms blogs above to go directly to their $50 Walmart gift card giveaways, both of which end on November 24 as well. Good luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 277 Newer› Newest»I would buy some fixings for the ice cream ornaments that are featured in the guide and make them with my 18 mos old and 3 year old. i would also buy some food and warm clothes for the local homeless man that i see when i go grocery shopping. he is legitmately homeless, and i never see him asking anyone for money, food, etc. it is already cold here, and i am sure he could use an extra shirt or gloves.
I Love the red wreath. I would also help my son's best friend who was kicked out of his own home (he's 15) and living with us for a while with some new clothes.
I would spend the money on gifts for Christmas for my children and loved ones, my husband lost his job a little over three weeks ago, so money is sparse! Thank you for this giveaway :)
amberd_short@hotmail.com
I'd buy some new Christmas lights. Ours are all at least 10 years old.
I would buy some ornaments for my tree and fabric to make Christmas gifts.
I'd by some outdoor lights--I've never put any up!
I would use the giftcard to buy our annual Christmas cards and more ornaments for the tree...can you ever have enough?
As much as I'd love to buy some new ornaments and decorations for inside my house, I'd use the $50 to buy my nieces some new clothes and hair accessories.
I would purchase our Christmas photo cards.
I loved the ice cream ornament idea. I would take my mother shopping with the card, because my dad just recently had surgery on his heart so it has kind of been all about him lately and I would love to surprise my mother who has been taking such good care of him in his recovery.
I would buy gifts for the gift giving tree and yarn for scarves/gloves/hats for donation. I would use the rest for xams dinner stuff.
I would buy some diapers, bottle nipples and some socks for my son coming in January, and something Dora for my 2 year old daughter:)
I would use some of it for our holiday photo cards, some for christmas dinner, and possibly one of those party platters. I always love the veggie dip one (yes I know I could make it for myself for much cheaper) :)
tahabecker@liberty.edu
I live in a condo in the suburbs, by which I mean I live in a glorified apartment surrounded by people with real houses who pour tons of effort into holiday decorations that turn me green with envy. I love my little hut and I'm not asking for much, I would just very much enjoy a real christmas tree (by which I mean fake but "real"-sized). The year that I moved in, my mother-in-law, with the best of intentions, bought me an 18" fake "tree" and every year excitedly expects me to put it up. She obviously put a lot of thought into buying it and I don't have the heart to tell her that I want to replace this poor little malnourished "tree" with a tree that hubby and I can display in our window with quiet pride right next to the big houses with the acres of lights and yard displays. A gift card would give me the perfect cover - "I won a big tree!" I am dying to establish a real collection of decorations and make my little hut a home. Also, I could then donate the little tree along with some new decorations to my fave charity - Big Brothers Big Sisters - which helps lots of families celebrate Christmas every year.
My daughter is a college student and this year is the first year she will have a place to decorate other than a small dorm room, so I would take her shopping and let her pick out decorations for her tree and her apartment.

I would buy xmas gifts for my family. Thank YOU!
safariof5@verizon.net
I would use the gift card to buy groceries to fill the bag I got at church for holiday food for the homeless. It would include all the fixing and a $20 gift card to Walmart for the turkey. I do this every year, but this year cannot afford to do so because my hours have been cut at work. But at least I have a job! Yea!!
I would use the gift card to buy Christmas decorations. We have a few, but many are getting old and we only have a few strands of Christmas lights that still work. I think we need lots of lights. I would also purchase photo Christmas cards to mail out this year.
Thanks,
Amy
I would spend it on Nintendo DS games for my daughter! Santa (hopefully) is bringing the DS so we need to get the games to go with it!
Since I need to recover my dinning room chairs I would buy a new tablecloth, napkins, and chargers. As for the rest of the money I would pickup a gift for the Toys for Tots program so I could teach my kids giving is always better then receiving.
I would use it to help some of the people at our local nursing home that don't have any families close by. Some of them lack simple things like socks and underwear, and $50 would help out with a lot of that kind of thing.
The ice cream ornament was adorable! I would probably use the $50 to buy my husband and daughter Christmas presents since we are running really low on funds this year!

I would use the $50 for food for the holidays! I like some of the suggestions in that guide! Thanks for the giveaway.
I volunteer at the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, and while the food served to the kids is warm and nourishing, it's often a little bland. When I saw those burger platters, I imagined how the kids' eyes would light up at such a fun holiday lunch. And, of course, some Oreos to go with the burgers!
I would purchase food for the family get together this year.

Maybe some of the food trays to make holiday dinners easier!
Let's see, What would I do with a $50 Wal-Mart gift card? I've been buying lots of baby stuff in preparation of upcoming baby showers. Two different ladies in our church are having twins! I’ve been buying something each trip to spread out the cost. Diapers, wipes, lotions, shampoo, etc. Thanks to sites like yours, I’ve gotten lots of it free or almost free! I’ve also been sending my MIL gift cards since she has a very limited income. Then there’s always stuff for our own two daughters. The possibilities are endless!

It's a wonderful way to forget that money is tight!

I would use the card to buy some holiday fixing to donate to the local food drives. Then I would use the rest to buy my children a little something.
I am going to be honest and I'm sure that most of you will agree with me,times are tough this year.I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2006 and I just can't help but to wonder if each holiday that I spend with my children will be the last so I try to do things with and for them from my heart. This Christmas is going to be even harder because my Mother was admitted to a nursing home last Wednesday.I moved back home when I got sick so with her being gone, there's an empty place that can't be filled. We don't have any extra money for Christmas this year since my medication co-pays are outrageous and my husband, who works for La Z Boy,has been cut back to 24-32 hours a week.We are thankful for those hours because over 200 people were laid off last week.I know that this wasn't an option but I would use the gift card to buy a turkey or ham so that I could bring my Mom home for Christmas dinner with me and the kids.I would also buy my Mom a robe because she doesn't have one. Also, since it would be awarded before Thanksgiving,I would cook dinner and bring Mom home.My kids are wonderful, they understand that I am sick and both of them said they don't want gifts this year, that all of us being together to eat dinner would be nice.I am so blessed, not with money, but with what really matters, love.
I would buy gifts for the grandchildren - after all Christmas is really for the kids.
I like the prelit Christmas tree - I've been looking for a chance to upgrade to a more "normal" sized tree; at the moment, all I have is this tiny like 3-ft tall one, which is fine and festive enough, but it would be so nice to have a bigger one!
I'd probably also sneak in some Christmas cards too - those seem to go up every year!
I would buy one of the deli trays to take to my parents in law for Thanksgiving. Would be the first time I would be going to their place for Thanksgiving. Then I would get some of the pictures made into Christmas cards to mail out to all the relatives for Christmas.

Hi, wow, $50.00. We can really use that for our holiday shopping. My church is having a Thanksgiving feeding next week for outreach. We already got some turkeys, so we will buy a few more. A lot of our friends are coming in off the road from doing donations to raise funds, so we would like to make them a dinner. I got most of our staples, but we don’t have a turkey to cook for them. So I will buy us one as well! Thank you for a chance @ this blessing! Annie Avery

We celebrate thanksgiving on my dad's side of the family the day after Thanksgiving and call it "Thanksmas" (because we all live far apart and we only get together at Thanksgiving and not Christmas to spend more time with our immediate families). This year, Thanksmas falls on my grandmother's 76th birthday and I would spend the $50 to make her a dark chocolate birthday cake (her favorite!) and some party hats and Christmas decorations that she would enjoy!
