What’s Your Far-From-Frugal Splurge?

I’m heading out to the hair salon in a few minutes to get my hair cut and colored. I’ll be honest, I do spend more than I’d like. My husband even wants to put a bumper sticker on his car that says “My wife and my money go to Eclips Salon and Day Spa.”

However, I’m so frugal when it comes to everything else I buy for my family. Since I started getting serious about grocery coupons and deals I’m saving at least $300 a month which more than covers this one luxury of mine. They do a great job on my hair, and hey, I deserve this one!

We work so hard to make our family budget go as far as possible. We all need to splurge on something every once in a while. So what’s your far-from-frugal splurge?

I too am guilty of spending a bit of cash on getting my hair foiled and cut about every 12 weeks as well!! Hubby is all for it though...he says having his wife look good is priceless.....(Of course, I agree!) LOL LOL

My splurge is eating out as often as we do. I always order water to drink, and pick lower cost items. I save in other areas so we can enjoy these splurges.

Mine is also my hair, but I don't do it very often, so it's not too bad. I also like to buy a nice bottle of wine from time to time. I think we deserve it. It feels nice to just sometimes buy or do something that you just really love and not worry about the price tag!

i love Ann Taylor Loft. They are so expenisve- even the sale, and with my coupons...but their clothes fit so nice and are so classic- I LOVE IT! So I treat myself to that every once and awhile

My splurges are pedicures and manicures along with an occasional eye brow waxing at a local salon. Their prices are good and because I save so much money on grocery/health & beaty products, I never feel bad about treating myself!

Skin care products. Definitely

I also spend way too much on my hair -- but it's something I "wear" everyday, and if my hair doesn't look good, I don't feel good. So it's worth it to me!

Unfortunately for me, my splurge is both my daughters dance classes. While they dance, I don't splurge on anything for myself.

Our far-from-frugal-splurge is going out to eat a couple times a month for date night. It would be cheaper to eat at home, but it's just so fun to skip cooking and enjoy a yummy meal out with my husband!

I would have to say eating out also. We usually eat out 2 times a week. Nothing fancy but with a family of 5, it could cost anywhere between $25-$50. But I need the break.

Great question! I posted my answer at my blog, but my short answer is dining out.

I'm with you... I save so much everywhere else, I tend to splurge on my hair. Hey, at least when we hold up the line with our stack of coupons we look good, right?

Definitely eating out.

I do get my hair done every 3 months, but it is a bargain! My hair stylist charges only $45 for highlights and a cut!

A friend who works at a high end salon comes to my house and cuts my hair every couple of months!

My non-frugal splurge is my mani & pedis every month!

Mine is getting my blond eyelashes tinted at a local salon (Iatria for those of you in Raleigh). Hey, it does save me money on mascara, right?

Well, I think my semi-regular splurge is skin care. I love lotions, creams and whatnot. I'd like the splurge to be getting my hair done but I can't afford that right now. Maybe I should save up some of my lotion money and make an appointment! :)

Not sure how I missed this one...but, I too am with ya on the hair thing. But, I did change stylists when we moved and she is half of what I used to pay (and that was even before I was frugal..hehe). I also love Philosophy products. Not frugal, but I can always find good coupon codes and free shipping to order products online so it's my way of being frugal :-)

I feel so lucky, I actually live near an Aveda beauty school. Any other hair/beauty school I wouldnt come with in a 100 feet of, but i talked to quite a few people (who gave them great reviews) before i decided to trust them w/my hair. Now (and for the past 4 years) I only pay about a fourth of what I used to pay a salon. I love it and fear if I ever have to move away what my hair care will cost...lol.
